π― Professor Dyrus Galom’s Journey of the Tiger π₯
For every martial artist, the path is more than just techniques and beltsβit’s about transformation.
The incredible journey of Professor Dyrus Galom, a respected USA Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and Hall of Fame inductee, is a powerful reminder of how martial arts can build not only champions but also compassionate leaders. ππ€

π₯ From Aspiring Child to Dedicated Practitioner
Born in 1981, Professor Galomβs martial arts story began in 1993, at the age of 12, in Omaha, Nebraska. Like many of us, his inspiration was the silver screen. ποΈ
“I have always loved martial arts films,” he shares. “As a child, I would watch them and teach myself moves.” π
His first formal instruction came under his cousin, Sifu/Guro Derick King, where he spent three years studying the adaptable concepts of Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino arts of Kali. βοΈ
This early foundation was crucial, but financial barriers often made training difficult. Young Dyrus would seek out free lessons at various schools, fueled by pure determination. π₯
His life and training trajectory shifted profoundly in 1996 when his family moved to Kansas City, KS. It was there he met the man who would shape his future: Grand Master Walter E. Justice. π₯

βοΈ The Forge of a Professor
Under the private tutelage of GM Walter E. Justice, Galom dedicated 18 intense years to mastering the system of American Kenpo/Tang Ken Ryu Jiu-Jitsu. π
This dedication bore remarkable fruit. While under GM Justice’s guidance, Galom emerged as a national champion in Kata, Kumite, and self-defense divisions, demonstrating his exceptional skill and competitive spirit. π₯
This enduring commitment culminated in 2013 when Dyrus Galom earned his 6th Degree Black Belt and the title of Professor. π

π The Birth of T.I.G.E.R. Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu
The spirit of a true martial artist is not just to master a system, but to evolve and share.
In 2014, Professor Galom founded T.I.G.E.R. Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu in Seattle, Washington. His art is a dynamic blend, built on the systems he mastered and enhanced by cross-training experience in diverse disciplines such as Krav Maga, Gracie Combatives, and Pentjak Silat. π
This constant pursuit of knowledge embodies the modern martial artist’s quest for completeness. π§©

β€οΈ A Platform for Purpose and Positivity
Beyond the technical achievements, such as his Masters of Martial Arts Hall of Fame induction and his feature in the βWhoβs Who in the Martial Arts 3rd editionβ, lies his most profound contribution: his mission. π
Professor Galom openly shares his motivation: to use martial arts as a platform to empower others.
“Martial Arts has given me a platform to pour into people of all ages positivity and self-esteem.”
His personal struggle helped define his teaching philosophy. “I wanted them to have the self-confidence to know they have a place in this world and a purpose,” he explains, particularly for kids who felt alone, bullied, or abused. π‘οΈ

Through his 30 years in the martial arts, he highlights the life-altering internal benefits:
- Self-Control: The ability to stay calm and use meditation to resolve conflict peacefully, rather than fighting. π§ββοΈ
- Self-Esteem & Truth: The confidence to “speak up and not be used and abused,” and to stand in one’s truth, refusing to let past traumas define the future. π£οΈ
- Stress Release: Using daily practice to release negative energy and maintain balance. βοΈ

Professor Galom’s journey proves that the ultimate victory in martial arts isn’t a trophy or a belt, but the ability to endure and the determination to make a difference in the world. π
He exemplifies the power of a dedicated spirit to become both a leader and an inspiration. π
