Master Ken Goodrich: Breaking Records, Building Leaders

Master Ken Goodrich is a 7-time ISKA World Breaking Champion, 7-time USBA/WBA World Record Holder, and 3-time USA Taekwondo National Champion. Beyond the stage, he has dedicated more than 22 years to teaching at-risk youth, building leaders through martial arts, and creating opportunities for adaptive athletes.

Master Ken Goodrich has built one of the most decorated legacies in martial arts breaking while dedicating his life to youth mentorship and community service. A 7-time ISKA World Breaking Champion, a 7-time USBA/WBA World Record Holder, and a 3-time USA Taekwondo National Champion, Ken has accomplished what no one else has — six consecutive ISKA World Breaking titles and an undefeated streak since 2018. His performances have been featured on ESPN and Triller TV, where fans worldwide have witnessed his unmatched precision and power.

Born on November 24, 1976, in Potsdam, New York, Ken’s journey has always been shaped by discipline, resilience, and leadership. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Springfield College in 1999, excelling in athletics as both a football player and as captain of the rugby team. Those experiences instilled values of teamwork and perseverance that carried forward into his martial arts career.

Ken began training in Taekwondo in 2002, rising through the ranks to become a 5th Degree Black Belt Master. He has been teaching and leading martial arts programs for more than 22 years, and since 2008 has been the proud owner of the Center for Martial Arts & Fitness in Chicopee, Massachusetts. In that time, he has taught thousands of children, with a strong focus on at-risk youth. Many of his earliest students, who began training with him as young as five, are now world champions or staff members at his school. His mission has always been clear: to help young people grow in spirit, mind, and body, often using outdoor adventure and leadership experiences to prepare them for life.

As head coach of Team Avalanche, Ken has guided his students to 12 world championships, establishing the team as one of the premier breaking teams in the world. His leadership extends beyond coaching — building a family-like environment where athletes support each other both in competition and in life.

Ken is also recognized as a Champion for Inclusion, creating opportunities for adaptive athletes and the special needs community to shine in martial arts. His work in Down syndrome awareness has been featured in Chromosomes Matter magazine and in multiple news outlets, and he has been honored with citations from the Massachusetts State Senate and the Mayor of Chicopee for his dedication and service.

Philanthropy is another cornerstone of Ken’s journey. Over the years, he has raised more than $150,000 for causes such as the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, Pets for Vets, and the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome.

In addition to his martial arts and community contributions, Ken has been a Red Cross Instructor for 25 years, teaching CPR, first aid, and emergency response to countless individuals. Above all, he is a devoted husband and father of two daughters, with family at the center of his life.

Looking ahead, Ken will represent the United States at the 2025 World Martial Arts Games in Oslo, Norway, further cementing his role as both competitor and ambassador of the sport.

On the stage, Master Ken Goodrich is a record-breaking champion. Off the stage, he is a teacher, mentor, and advocate whose true legacy is measured in the lives he has helped transform.
