Joongkwan Sunsa Massan Ghorbani

Fighter, Philosopher, Pioneer

Grandmaster Massan Ghorbani was a quiet and shy little boy who overcome a local bully at the age of 7 and managed to scape a kidnapping attempt at the age of 13 and grow to become one of the best knock down karate fighters in Iran and one of the best full contact fighters in Ireland, and later one of DJN Ji Han

Jae top students/assistants and third non-Korean practitioner in Sinmoo Hapkido to ever achieve 10th Dan Black belt and Gold belt as well as special title Joongkwan Sunsa in Sin Moo Hapkido and Sin Moo Associations directly from Doju Ji Han Jae the founder of The style.

SGM Ghorbani has competed in many national and international tournaments including Sosai Mas Oyama’s knockdown karate Kyukushin Kai championships and was a knockdown Karate champion in Iran in his own weight division after the revolution in Iran, before he moved to Ireland. He also became a holder of many World and European Kickboxing titles and a former World silver and Wako European champion since he moved to Ireland in January 1986.

With the new age in Martial Arts and new developments in fighting skills, Joongkwan Sunsa Ghorbani believes Hapkido have to technically upgrade to be able to maintain its original objectives and goals which are to maintain and improve physical, mental and spiritual health and fitness and also ability to defend self against anyone with any old or new fighting styles or skills set.

A leading army’s in the World consistently strive to build superior weapons and countries with superior weapons and technology are so-called leading civilizations.

On the other hand, traditional Martial Arts have always thought ethics, morals, and character building, focused on self-development as well as life and self-defense skills and proved to be beneficial to mental health as well as physical health and conditioning. A Martial Arts instructor is a teacher, a leader, and a monk with a massive responsibility towards self and all in his/her students and his / her community.

A teacher can always become a light in the darkness and help others open their third eyes, but they themselves are always in danger of losing their light in overwhelming darkness of greed and politics. The battle between light and darkness exists in every one of us and has been since the very beginning. This is not Yin and Yang as Yin and Yang do complete each other, this is more like the battle of good wolf and bad wolf story told by American natives chief to his grandson.

SGM Massan Ghorbani teach and promote positive outlook to help others to focus and build on positive to attract good and to develop the best within each and every one of us and also teach self-control as well as self-discipline to help win The ongoing inner battle between the good and the bad wolf within us.

He himself comes from many trials and errors in his background and he is happy to share all the Do’s and Don’ts for on and off the mats situations from what he has learned in a very hard way in his past fifty years.

He is sharing his memories of his life challenges and his victories with his eager and determined students who are willing to learn and not to make the same mistakes or to reinvent the wheel.

The root of all victories is honesty and the root of honesty is strength. We must always strive to be strong physically, mentally and spiritually to stay honest, healthy, happy and successful.
