5 Ways Being a Taekwondo Instructor Can Make Your Life Better by KJN Gregory V. Glover
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that combines kicks, punches, blocks, and self-defense techniques. It is a great way to get in shape, learn self-defense, and improve your discipline. But did you know that being a Taekwondo instructor can also have many benefits for your life? There are numerous articles about the benefits of learning Taekwondo, but I can tell you that becoming a Taekwondo Instructor has many life changing benefits as well. I began my Taekwondo journey in Thailand in 1967 and have never missed a day of training since that first class.

Here are five ways that being a Taekwondo instructor can make your life better:
- It can help you stay healthy and fit. Taekwondo is a great way to get your heart rate up and burn calories. It also helps to improve your flexibility, balance, and coordination. As an instructor, you will be required to demonstrate the techniques yourself, which will help you stay in shape.
- It can teach you discipline and focus. Taekwondo requires a lot of discipline and focus. You need to be able to learn the techniques, practice them consistently, and stay focused during sparring or self-defense situations. As an instructor, you will need to be able to teach these same qualities to your students.
- It can help you build confidence. Taekwondo can help you build confidence in yourself and your abilities. When you learn to defend yourself and your students, you will feel more confident in your own abilities. This confidence can carry over into other areas of your life, such as your career or relationships.
- It can help you meet new people and make friends. Teaching Taekwondo is a great way to meet new people and make friends. You will get to know your students and their families, and you will also get to meet other instructors and martial artists. This can be a great way to build a social network and find support for your own martial arts journey.
- It can give you a sense of purpose. Teaching Taekwondo can give you a sense of purpose in life. You will be helping others to learn self-defense, improve their health, and build confidence. This can be a very rewarding experience and can make you feel good about yourself.

If you are looking for a way to improve your health, learn discipline, build confidence, meet new people, and make a difference in the world, then becoming a Taekwondo instructor may be the perfect career for you.
In addition to the five benefits mentioned above, being a Taekwondo instructor can also help you to develop other skills that are valuable in the workplace, such as:
- Communication skills
- Leadership skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Time management skills
- Public speaking skills
These skills can be helpful in any career, so becoming a Taekwondo instructor can be a great way to improve your resume and boost your career prospects.
If you are interested in becoming a Taekwondo instructor, there are a few things you need to do. First, you need to learn the techniques yourself. This can be done by taking classes from a qualified instructor or by attending a training program. Once you have learned the techniques, you need to get certified. The US National Taekwondo Association offers annual Instructors Certification Courses twice a year. Once a year in the USA and once a year at our campus in Korea. Finally, you need to find a job teaching Taekwondo. This can be done by searching online or by contacting local martial arts schools. The US National Taekwondo Association can help you find a school to work at or even help you open a program or school of your own.
Becoming a Taekwondo instructor is a great way to improve your life in many ways. It can help you stay healthy, learn discipline, build confidence, meet new people, make a difference in the world, and develop valuable skills. If you are interested in becoming a Taekwondo instructor, I encourage you to learn more about it and take the necessary steps to get started.

Respectfully yours in Taekwondo,
