How to Beat the Franchise Schools

How to Beat the Franchise Schools

Too many school owners believe that they can beat their Big Box style competitors simply by teaching great classes and building rapport with the families.

They think that is how they can beat those corporate heavyweights that have million-dollar marketing budgets.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Yes, you need to deliver a good service but none of your students join because it’s ‘your passion.’

You can win the war against McDojos, but you will need to make sure that they know how you are going to help them reach their goals. Show them more individualized attention and that they have a relationship with their teacher who isn’t just some hourly employee doing martial arts classes for extra cash.

The big school chains online and offline are making everyone aware of what they offer and where they are located.

Franchise schools are everywhere. TV spots. FB ads. Pop up shops in the mall.

Chain school locations pay a ton of rent to ONLY be in high traffic count areas with great visibility. They are in front of who you want to reach every day.

Are you?

If you’re like most independent martial arts schools, the answer is a resounding ‘no.’

Your facility is not in front of tens of thousands of cars each day and you don’t have a six-figure daily ad budget like Franchise school.

Sure, you can tell yourself that those programs won’t deliver results and eventually people will figure out that they need high quality instruction. And you may be right.

I certainly think that all the cookie cutter businesses out there and the mass marketed online programs provide a lesser solution than most of the quality martial arts schools that I know.

But do you really want to wait it out and hope those people eventually find you?

More importantly, can you afford to wait it out?

If the answer is no, so let me give you an alternative:

Get the right prospects attention and stay in front of them frequently enough to make it clear that you’re the obvious choice.

And do it for less than 1% of what the big guy spends to get their prospects’ attention.

See, if you’re like most of us, you’re not going to beat them at their own game…

…but you can play by your own rules and win.

Now, it’s going to take you:

1. Getting in front of the right people at little or no cost.

2. Getting them to give you permission to follow up with them.

3. Following up consistently, positioning you & your school as the best solution and consistently making offers.

4. Turning current students into ambassadors and raving fans for your school.

But if you have that four-part formula in place, you can compete and win against any competitor in any market.

Now you could create that formula yourself or the more affordable option is that you could just borrow it from us.

I’ve been helping independent martial arts school owners win since 1992 and, together with my team, we’re going to help you compete & win in today’s challenging market.
