Why YOU Should Become a Certified Taekwondo Instructor by Chong KwanJangNim Jong Sung Kim
Since the age of ten my dream was to be a martial arts teacher and school owner. The process and training involved lead to me becoming a much better martial artist than I ever would have been had I only wanted to become a Black Belt. Running a martial arts school for me was easy and rewarding because the process to become an instructor completely prepares you for all the challenges of running a school and what to do in every situation. I do what I love and make a professional salary doing it.

The first step is simple. Just let your instructor know that you want to join the instructor training program. This year we have made accessing information easy by creating a Facebook group exclusively for people who are in the instructor training course. The course is lead at each school by the Master Instructor and supplemental training materials are distributed through the Facebook group. The in-school training portion lasts two years and covers all areas of instruction, self-study and student management. This course is designed to teach you how to become an instructor in your school teaching classes.

Once you have completed this two-year program you are ready for the second step. This would be to come to Korea for your 7 Day Instructors Course Training and Graduation. In these seven days, you will review everything that is needed to be an instructor and receive your Instructors Reference Manual. This book will be your standard operating procedure for running a successful martial arts class. This includes student management and student motivation to teach high-energy classes that inspire students to train hard and reach their full potential.
This is not the end of the Taekwondo career path. Once you are a certified instructor teaching class you my set a high goal of completing the Masters Course to reach the next level which would be to become a school owner or the chief instructor at a large school.

Beyond that, we have the School Managers Course and the Grand Masters Course. Becoming a school manager would put you in the position of being the programs director for a large school knowing all of the daily operations and how to manage the school events and promotions.
The Grand Masters course is designed for those high-ranking practitioners that are ready to operate multiple locations and teach the Two Year Instructors Course in their schools. The career opportunities in Taekwondo are limitless. So set your goals high and reach for your dreams.
